Last updated: 21 July 2026

Ankar Online ("Ankar Online", "we", "us" or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and disclose personal information when you use our website and services, including our bill comparison and savings review service, property buying/selling/investing consultation service, and business payment gateway referral service.

1. Information we collect

Depending on which services you use, we may collect:

  • Contact details such as your name, email address, phone number and preferred contact method.
  • Utility bill and account information you upload for review, including provider, usage, tariff and billing details, and any identifiers such as NMI, MIRN or AVC numbers shown on your bills.
  • Property-related information you provide for buying, selling or investment consultations, such as budget, target locations, property details and finance status.
  • Business information for merchant payment gateway enquiries, such as business type and monthly transaction volume.
  • Any other information you provide through contact forms, enquiries or consultations.

2. How we use your information

We use your personal information to:

  • Assess your current bills, plans or property requirements and identify potential savings or opportunities.
  • Prepare and provide you with comparisons, quotes and recommendations, including from our referral partners.
  • Contact you about your enquiry, consultation or account.
  • Improve our services and respond to enquiries or complaints.
  • Meet our legal and regulatory obligations.

3. Disclosure to third parties

Ankar Online works with a network of referral partners and providers (for example, in energy, telecommunications, insurance and payment processing) to help identify savings or opportunities on your behalf. Where you choose to proceed with a partner's offer, we may share relevant information from your bill or enquiry with that partner so they can prepare a quote or process your application. We may receive a referral fee or commission from partners for introductions — this does not affect the price you pay. We do not sell your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.

4. Data storage and security

We store personal information using reputable cloud infrastructure providers and take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect it from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Uploaded bills and documents are only accessible to authorised Ankar Online team members and, where relevant, the partner you have chosen to proceed with.

When you upload a bill or document, we ask you to confirm your agreement to this Privacy Policy. We retain the extracted information and comparison for your account, but the uploaded source document itself is automatically removed from your account and is no longer accessible 90 days after upload. You can alsoask us to remove an uploaded document at any time — from your bill page in your account, or by contacting us — without affecting your saved comparison.

5. Access and correction

You may request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you at any time by contacting us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe in accordance with the Privacy Act.

6. Cookies

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to improve your browsing experience and understand how our site is used. You can disable cookies through your browser settings, though this may affect some site functionality.
